My Grandfather

Diego Garcia kept a garden in the South Bronx that included Apricot Trees, Cherry Trees, Apple Trees,
Nectarine Trees, Tomato Plants, and a Fig Tree that would never bare fruit.  He came to America
from Spain by stowing away on a ship to avoid fighting in the Spanish Civil War.  All he came
with was a bag of oranges, hoping they'd help him fight off scurvy.  He walked off of the boat
wearing the paper bag he'd carried the oranges in as a hat.

He was one of the original Sixth Borough Advocates and a junk collector of high order.

Apricots.
