Asbury Park Comicon

Asbury Park, New Jersey.  Used to be home to a host of amusements, which all closed down by 1988.
They are on their way to recovering from Hurricane Sandy.
On March 30, they held a Comicon in their old convention hall.  The poster features a drawing of Tillie, the
character that was made famous in murals in both Asbury Park and Coney Island.  Wikipedia says that the
image/name of Tillie was most likely based on the owner of Coney Island's Steeplechase Park, George C. Tilyou.

Greetings From Asbury Park.

It was a small event, focused on comic books (over movies or video games), independent publishers,
and the old school underground.  It was one of the sweeter events I've been to in a long time.  Although
there was a ton of junk for sale, it wasn't a giant money-grub.  There was a genuine spirit of "comicdom" there
that was truly commendable.
